The Academic Skills Lab Program (ASL) consists of two parts: (1) a skills-based lab component and (2) an individual tutoring component. The ASL is taught by second- and third-year law students who have displayed excellence both inside and outside the classroom.
The lab component consists of six one-hour sessions, which are required as part of the first-year law students’ Introduction to the Legal Profession course. Each session focuses on different skills that will help first-year students be successful throughout law school. The individual tutoring component provides an opportunity for first-year students to have short one-on-one sessions with the tutors. Students sign up for these 15-minute sessions to receive individual assistance on developing and refining skills that will contribute to their overall academic success.
