Honors UNIV 101 Service Competition

The Honors UNIV 101 Service Competition allows first-year Honors students to engage with the Columbia community in a friendly competition to earn the most points for their class.

Service Through Competition

Throughout October, Honors UNIV 101 students are encouraged to volunteer their service individually or as a group at approved service sites, with service based organizations or Service Saturdays. Service hours associated with a service learning course are excluded from this competition.

At the end of the competition, the top three Honors UNIV 101 sections with the most service points will not only earn bragging rights, but also receive prizes for their dedication to service!

Points System

Type of Volunteering Points Per Student
Individual 10 Points Per Hour

Group1

30 Points Per Hour
"Double Points" Days2

20 Points Per Hour

Group1 – Volunteering with at least two Honors UNIV 101 classmates.

"Double Points" Days2 – Group volunteering on a “Double Points” Day would be 60 points per hour!

By submitting this form, you’ll record your service hours to ensure they count toward your section’s progress in the competition. Please ensure all of the information you submit is accurate, including your class section. Your contributions help highlight the impact of Honors students and bring your class closer to winning exciting prizes!
