Background

Fiona Lofton has worked in the field of Education in a variety of capacities throughout her professional career.  Most recently, she served as a Career Development Facilitator in Lexington Richland District Five at Dutch Fork Middle School for 8 years. Prior to working in K-12, she served as Director of Career Services, Associate Director of Center for Engaged Learning and Division of Education Career Coach at Columbia College. 

While at Columbia College she designed and created the Career Fellows program which permeated academic advising and career development into the curriculum, training faculty in Career Development models to ensure career success for students upon graduation. Lofton also spearheaded an intentional Four-Year Career Development plan connected to academics, leadership and career experiences giving student ownership of their college experiences with guided mentorship.

Lofton began her professional career at Berry College in Rome, GA where she served as Coordinator of Continuing Education & Lifelong Learning and then moved into role as Coordinator of Constituent Events in the Alumni Office.  She focused on major special events planning for the college including Alumni Weekend, Summer Berry Day Camp, Golf Tournaments, Centennial Alumni events and other on-campus.  Fiona has always had a passion for mentoring and motivating students as well as giving back to the community.  She served as a site coordinator for an Adopted Teen Empowerment and Mentoring Program for 2 years while residing in Georgia and provided mentorship as Head Coach for Girls on the Run for 3 years in the local Columbia area.

Fiona received her bachelor’s degree at Berry College and master’s degree in Higher Education in Administration and Student Affairs at University of South Carolina.  She also holds certifications as a Global Career Development Facilitator, Certified Program Planner and ertified Career Services Provider (CCSP).
